Lincoln Ghost Walk
When: Wednesday-Saturday, and Bank Holidays, from 7pm
Where: Cathedral Quarter, Lincoln – meet opposite the Magna Carta public house
Who: Family-friendly – suitable for all ages, the walk lasts approximately 70-minutes
Tickets: Adults £6, children (under 12) £4 – no need to book, arrive ten minutes prior to walk commencing
An award-winning entertaining experience for the whole family, the Lincoln Ghost Walk is something of a right-of-passage for residents. An incredibly fun and interactive way to learn more about the city and its ghostly goings on, stroll along the central city streets with an expert guide. Not only will you delve into the city’s supernatural past, but you’ll get to see so many places of interest and attractions along the way too. Booking is not required although it is recommended that you arrive at least 5-10 minutes before departure time. Special tours and functions can also be arranged in advance which are great for birthdays and team building events.
Lincoln Pumpkin Trail
When: October 14; 2022 to November 2nd; 2022, all-day
Where: Bailgate, Lincoln
Who: Family-friendly
Tickets: Free
Lincoln’s annual Pumpkin Trail is back for October half-term 2022. Another of the city’s celebrated trails, follow this one around the streets of Lincoln and there may even be a prize in it for your little ghouls! Themed with plenty of spooky surprises, Lincoln’s historic cobbled streets come into their own come Halloween.
Stop off at some of the fantastic local businesses along the way – they’ll all be dressing their windows to thrill. All you need to be able to take part is a trail map, which can be collected from the Visitor Information Centre – or downloaded here. So, what about that prize we mentioned? Well, if you answer the trail questions along the way you could be a winner.
Harvest Festival
When: October 28; 2022, 10.30am-3pm
Where: International Bomber Command Centre, Lincoln
Who: Family-friendly

The Harvest Festival, an occasion to celebrate Earth’s bounty – and certainly so during the Second World War. It was a time when we were all encourage to Dig for Victory, using homegrown produce to supplement the loss of food imports from overseas. A message that rings true today, with the ‘cost of living crisis’ creeping up on us, growing your own is very much back on the agenda. Head to International Bomber Command and, in that spirit, celebrate harvest with its free family activity day. There will be crafts and fun games to play and making a day of it is easy with the cafe on-site – a café which champions utilising the most local produce, with countless ingredients grown in the IBCC Dig for Victory gardens. Halloween Ghost Hunt
When: October 29; 2022 to October 30; 2022, 8pm-1am
Where: Tattershall Castle
Who: Strictly over 18s only
Tickets: £40pp
Join Haunted Heritage team on an unmissable ghost hunt exploring Lincolnshire’s very own Tattershall Castle. Will you discover any signs that the castle’s former residents are still at large, haunting the corridors, guard house and, of course, the Great tower – the basement of which is said to have housed prisoners from the Civil War. With more than 8 centuries of history, waiting to be discovered inside its walls, Tattershall Castle is the perfect venue for this spooky session. A 5-hour investigation will put you in the shoes of real ghost hunters, exploring the castle after dark, during the witching hour. Use detection equipment and learn investigation techniques from experience paranormal investigators. The evening will be split into three sessions, each exploring different areas of the castle, with breaks in between for light refreshment and hot drinks. Wrap up warm, we expect there will be a chill running down your spine. Booking is essential.
City of Lincoln 10k
When: October 30; 2022, all day – race time 9am
Where: Central and Uphill Lincoln, start line on Riseholme Road, finish line in Minster Yard
Who: Over 15s or over, come event day
Tickets: £26pp, £24pp for Athletics Club members
What better way to end the half term, and the month of October, than with the famous Lincoln 10k. This celebrated race is now known as one of the biggest and best-loved running events in the North, so whether you’re a seasoned runner looking to score a new PB, a fundraiser looking for your next challenge or you’re just looking to get active and up your step-count for the day, this is a great option. Come rain or shine runners take to the streets of Lincoln with huge crowds cheering on the from the side-lines. The atmosphere on race day is incredible, especially surrounding the finish lines with local eateries, pubs and restaurants going all out to welcome visitors and residents alike. An unusual way to take in some of Lincoln’s must-see sights, including the Roman walls and arches, Lincoln Cathedral – of course, and the stunning green spaces which pepper the city. Once you’ve crossed the finish line, grab your t-shirt, drink, medal and goody bag before meeting up with your supporters to explore more of the city together.
