New appointment to Lindum Group Executive Board

24 July 2024

Lindum is delighted to announce that Richard Shaw has been appointed to Lindum Group’s Executive Board.

Richard joined the Lindum family as an apprentice 36 years ago in 1988, at the age of just 18, and has progressed through the business since, being made Managing Director of our Building Maintenance Services (Lindum BMS) team in 2020.

He originally joined us through the Government’s Youth Training Scheme. Richard trained as a joiner and completed his apprenticeship at Lincoln College, before working in our Joinery workshop with a team of experienced craftsmen for six years.

He then worked as a site manager and construction manager, on projects including the new Richmond Medical Centre and the OneNK Centre refurbishment, both in North Hykeham.

Edward Chambers, Co-chairman of Lindum Group, said: “We are pleased to announce that Richard Shaw has been appointed to the Executive Board.

“Richard joined Lindum in 1988, as an apprentice in the Joinery workshop, before moving to BMS after 6 years; he worked in a variety of roles on-site and in the office, including site manager and construction  manager, before becoming MD of BMS in 2020.

“He has shown considerable commitment and loyalty to the business and will continue in his existing role, whilst having greater involvement across the Group.”

Richard is a member of the Lindum ‘Sock Club’, comprising past and present employees with at least 25 years of service in the business.

He takes on Group-wide strategic responsibilities as a member of the Executive Board, whilst retaining his MD role.

Richard said: “I’m delighted to be appointed to the executive board. It is a great honour.

“When I joined Lindum as an eighteen-year-old, I never dreamed I would still be here all these years later.

“I didn’t know for sure I’d even get the job as I failed woodwork at school.

“But the support and training I’ve been given at Lindum means I have been able to enjoy a varied and interesting career.”
