Lindum marks Employee Ownership Day by finally giving everyone the boot… bag

19 June 2026

Lindum celebrated Employee Ownership Day in typically practical fashion this year – by giving every member of staff a brand‑new boot bag.

The employee‑owned construction company, which is owned by its workforce, handed out the bags as a light‑hearted thank you to colleagues and a handy solution to a familiar on‑site problem: muddy boots with nowhere sensible to put them.

The sturdy bags are designed to keep mud, dust and the occasional mystery smell safely contained, helping protect vans, cars and homes after a long day on site.

Co‑chairman Freddie Chambers said the gesture was intended to be both useful and very Lindum.

“With Lindum turning 70 this year, we wanted to mark Employee Ownership Day with something that felt true to who we are – practical, useful and rooted in the day‑to‑day reality of working on site,” he said.

“A fancy gift didn’t feel very ‘Lindum’, but a boot bag that keeps the mud where it belongs absolutely did. It’s a small gesture, but a fitting way to celebrate both our milestone year and the people who’ve helped us reach it.”

Employee Ownership Day (EO Day) is a national UK celebration held annually in June to raise awareness of the benefits of employee-owned businesses. Organised by the Employee Ownership Association (EOA), it celebrates the positive impact of EO on staff, businesses, and the economy.

In 2026, the EOA launched the UK Employee Ownership Growth Strategy, which aims for at least 7,500 employee‑owned businesses by 2030.

Lindum has been employee‑owned since 1994, with colleagues sharing responsibility for the company’s performance and future and sharing in its successes too.

The Employee Ownership Association said EO Day was an opportunity to celebrate the growing impact of employee ownership across the UK and the people who make it a success every day.

“This year’s theme, ‘Owning It’, recognises the role employee owners play in driving business performance, supporting their colleagues and creating positive outcomes for their communities.” It said.

“With almost 2,900 employee-owned businesses now operating across the UK, employing more than 432,000 employee owners, the sector continues to grow in both scale and influence. By sharing stories of Great EO on EO Day, we can inspire more businesses to explore employee ownership and help build a more resilient, inclusive and sustainable economy.”
